Designer Q&A: Rohit Patel, Senior Kitchen Designer at Häcker Dubai

20 August 2025

With more than two decades of experience in interior and kitchen design, Rohit Patel has spent the last several years honing his craft at Häcker Dubai. His background blends architectural training with a refined eye for proportion and flow, shaped by a passion for creating spaces that feel as good as they look. Known for his attention to detail, Rohit focuses on how spaces make people feel, not just how they look.

In this extended Q&A, we explore his inspirations, process and advice for anyone planning their dream kitchen in Dubai.

What’s your design background?

Rohit: I’ve been in the design field for over 20 years. I studied architecture for two years at Kingston University, followed by a diploma in Interior Design from the Interior Design Institute. This combination of formal training gave me a solid foundation in both spatial planning and aesthetic balance. Since then, I’ve worked across Dubai from Emirates Hills to Palm Jumeirah, designing kitchens that blend structure with creativity and are tailored to how people live.

What’s your design style?

Rohit: My style is a blend of modern and contemporary, clean, refined, and always evolving. I’m drawn to simplicity with purpose: spaces that feel fresh and current but also stand the test of time. I like working with sleek lines, high-quality materials and natural textures that bring warmth and clarity. It’s about balance, between minimalism and liveability, structure and creativity.

How important are details in your work?

Rohit: Details are what elevate a kitchen. From the texture of materials to how storage is integrated, small decisions create a big impact. A well-placed light, a concealed drawer, a tactile finish—each element is part of the bigger picture. When every choice feels deliberate, the result is a space that just works.

Where do you draw your design inspiration from?

Rohit: My inspiration often comes from observing how people live. I pay close attention to flow and function in everyday spaces. Dubai itself is a great source too—the mix of cultures, styles and innovation here always sparks ideas. I also take cues from nature, architecture and materials that feel grounded yet refined.

What type of client do you enjoy working with most?

Rohit: I really enjoy working with clients who value the process. Whether they’re detail-driven or big-picture thinkers, it’s about building trust and shaping a shared vision. When clients are open, curious and invested in how their kitchen will feel and function, that’s when we create something truly personal.

What should someone expect when they book a consultation with you?

Rohit: A thoughtful and collaborative conversation. I’ll ask about how you live, how you use your kitchen, and what your ideal space looks like. We’ll go through layout options, materials, finishes and functionality to create a design that reflects your life. I also help visualise things clearly so every choice feels confident.

What’s a common mistake you help clients avoid?

Rohit: One of the most common mistakes is focusing too much on how a kitchen looks without considering how it will be used day to day. A kitchen can’t just look great—it has to work. I also guide clients through often-overlooked decisions like material selection and storage planning. Personally, I tend to steer away from overly bold colour schemes and lean toward natural palettes but if colour is used thoughtfully, it can add something really special. It’s all about making decisions that are both stylish and practical.

What advice would you give someone designing a kitchen in Dubai?

Rohit: Start with how you want the kitchen to feel and function. In Dubai, homes are as diverse as the people who live in them so don’t follow trends blindly. Think about your routines, the climate, how the kitchen connects to the rest of your space. Choose materials that perform well and reflect your personality. The design will follow naturally.
